In a world as complex and intricate as our own many tragedies are lost in the endless torrent of catastrophes. One of the greatest tragedies of the modern age is currently beginning to show its face. In the Pacific Ocean there is a current known as the “North Pacific Gyre”. This current is circular and such that it allows anything inanimate to become stuck in its massive area. Uncertain at the beginning of the 21st century, scientists slowly began to work on uncovering this slumbering giant. What we now know is that the current definitively traps the majority of plastic waste consumed from Asia to Central America.
